Anna Ganina was born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine. She moved to London, Ontario with her family when she was sixteen and there finished high school and earned a degree in Architecture leading to her first job in San Diego, California.

In 2006 Ganina moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, and worked for an architectural firm. And in 2014 she earned a new degree in History of Classical Civilizations and Art History from the University of Toronto. .

Ganina received her initial training in art and art history from Nina Fedorova, a nationally recognized artist in Ukraine. Fedorova was teaching at that time at the Art Academy in Odessa. Fedorova introduced her to variety of mediums, styles of painting, drawing, sculpting, and ceramic work. After two years Ganina had to quit the Academy when her family moved to Canada. In Canada Anna continued painting mostly on her own, applying the knowledge that she received from Fedorova.

Ganina first exhibited her work to a large group of people while participating at San Diego Annual Art Walk in 2004.

Painting for her is a philosophical process and the inspiration comes from the world around her. Although her paintings are not a reflection of reality, rather, they reflect her thoughts and feelings at the moment of inspiration.
